Jazz In The Lights Music Festival promises a spectacular musical experience

Featuring an exciting lineup of artists which includes Samthing Soweto, Mandisi Dyantyis, Stogie T and many others – this year’s Jazz in the Lights Music Festival is going to be a lasting memory  for the whole family

Taking place at the Joburg Zoo on 16 December, the Jazz in the Lights Music Festival will be a feast for the senses as the Arts Alive International Arts Festival closes off its 30th anniversary celebration in grand style

The past two years had a significant yet adverse impact on the arts industry, and as physical gatherings have opened up again – the Jazz In The Lights Music Festival creates an exciting opportunity for families all across Johannesburg and other parts of the province and country to come together and once again experience the magic of live music performances.

From Jazz to Maskandi all the way to Hip-Hop, the impressive line-up feature a wide range of content to cater for various audiences. The music festival will feature artists such as Samthing Soweto, Mandisi Dyantyis, Thandi Ntuli, Stogie T, Dumza Maswana, Phuzekhemisi, Keenan Meyer, Neo Joshua, African Jazz Pioneers and Mahotella Queens and many more.

While the musical experience is the highlight of the event, it has been curated so that families can enjoy a variety of activities for all ages throughout the day. As part of the Arts Alive Festival’s partnership with the Joburg Zoo and The Joburg Theatres’Festival Of Lights, families will have the freedom of movement to explore and view the animals in the zoo and to also participate in all the other experiences the zoo has to offer. These include the farm yard where children can see and touch friendly farm animals and the education centre where families can get up close and personal with lions and tigers – among many other lively outdoor and indoor activities.

The package will also includethe Festival of Lights which will commence on the 25th of November and will run until the 1st of January 2023 at the Zoo. This means that as the evening settles in and the concert approaches its peak, visitors can enjoy a peaceful and serene walk in the zoo on a designated lit route with trees and objects decorated in enchanting and captivating lights away from the animals. The Festival of Lights begins at 7pm and will be the perfect way to end a thrilling and enlivening day at the festival.

Visitors will also be able to purchase food and drinks and are encouraged to bring their picnic blankets, cushions and chairs.  Please note that patrons will not be allowed to bring alcoholic beverages into the venue however these will be for sale inside the festival
